Attorney Patrick Duff mentors MSU Law students to the final round of regional trial competition in Akron, OH
Attorney/MSU Trial Advocacy Coach Patrick Duff spent the first two months of the new year teaching trial advocacy to two MSU Law students, preparing them to compete in the Texas Young Lawyers Association regional competition in Akron, Ohio. The case was a murder case involving a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. The team advanced all the way to the final round of competition, finishing as regional runner-up to Akron University.

Attorney Patrick Duff takes MSU Law team to national trial competition in Atlanta
Attorney/MSU Trial Advocacy Coach Patrick Duff took a team of four MSU Law students to compete in the William Daniel Mock Trial Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. The students tried a case involving an alleged felony murder, committed by way of arson. Patrick mentored the students on the basics of trial advocacy. The students learned how to draft and present all facets of a trial, including opening statements, direct and cross examinations, closing arguments, pretrial motions, and evidentiary objections.

Michael S. Brenton Receives Honor Michael S. Brenton, founder and shareholder of the Brenton Law Group PC, was inducted into the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers on Saturday April 9th, 2011 in Boston, MA. Mr. Brenton received his Bachelors of Arts from Michigan State University and his Juris Doctorate from Notre Dame University and has been practicing workers’ compensation law for 36 years.
The College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers has been established to honor those attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice in the field of workers' compensation. Members have been nominated for the outstanding traits they have developed in their practice of twenty years, or longer, representing plaintiffs, defendants, serving as judges, or acting for the benefit of all in education, overseeing agencies and developing legislation. These individuals have convinced their peers, the bar, bench and public that they possess the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership.
